BELFORD ROXO

In 2004, due to a demand to recuperate the school Educandário Nossa Senhora das Graças – ENSGRA, in the neighborhood of Lote XV, Thalamus identified the existence in the community of an informal, disorganized group of workshops producing shoes for women.
Thalamus, with a view to organizing this workforce, gathered partner entities such as Viva Rio, Sebrae, Belford Roxo City Hall, Firjan, Finep and local business (download PDF report – 9MB, Portuguese only). It documented the initial phase of the work in a film called “Um Passo no Lote XV”.
Since 2007 the projects have followed their natural paths independently.
