Doar Sangue Campaign
Thalamus considers giving blood a basic action of citizenship and is committed to the important work of engaging the people around it. Twice a year, in March and September, it promotes a blood donor campaign, DOAR SANGUE É DOAR VIDA (To Give Blood is to Give Life), in partnership with Hemorio.
This campaign was launched in 2006 in memory of Fernanda de Moraes Barboza.
The blood stocked in public and private hospitals has a relatively short lifespan (three weeks). The collaboration of the whole population in maintaining an efficient network of blood donors is a fundamental element in the health and well-being of any modern society.
Even if people are unable to donate, or simply don’t know whether they are possible donors, they are always encouraged to take part in any way they can. The campaign folder can be downloaded here (Portuguese only).
